New partial vote totals in San Diego City Council races have brought more clarity to the battle in District 8 and show improving results for incumbents Henry Foster in District 4 and Kent Lee in District 6.<\/p>\n

And in District 2, Richard Bailey and Nicole Crosby continue to hold the top two spots \u2014 but Bailey\u2019s election-night lead on Crosby has shrunk significantly as the county registrar continues to count votes.<\/p>\n

Primaries don\u2019t decide who wins council seats in San Diego \u2014 runoffs between the top two candidates are required in all races.<\/p>\n

That makes the second slot in every race crucial, and Gerardo Ramirez has maintained his hold on that slot in District 8 since the first results were posted on election night. He remained 295 votes ahead of third-place Venus Molina in updated partial results the registrar posted Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

With only 11,000 votes left to tally countywide \u2014 and only a small fraction of those from District 8 \u2014 Ramirez seems likely to end up finishing second and making the runoff against first-place finisher Antonio Martinez.<\/p>\n

Molina does not plan to concede until all the votes are counted. She said she is \u201cwaiting till the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

With 195,000 votes left countywide last Friday, Ramirez was 352 votes ahead of Molina. While Molina has narrowed his lead by 57 votes since, she is not gaining at a pace that is nearly fast enough.<\/p>\n

County election officials\u2019 next update is scheduled for Friday evening.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

In District 4, Foster and Martha Abraham have secured the top two spots and will face off in November.<\/p>\n

But Foster has overtaken Abraham for first place. Abraham led by 249 votes when final election night totals were posted in the early morning hours of June 3, and she still led by three votes last Friday.<\/p>\n

Foster has since moved into first place and was leading by 22 votes in the latest results posted Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In District 6, Lee widened his lead over second-place finisher Mark Powell from fewer than 2,000 votes on June 3 to more than 5,300 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

In District 2, Bailey\u2019s lead over Crosby has shrunk to less than 500 votes after being as large as 2,000 votes. In the latest tally, Bailey has 14,683 votes, for 34.88%, and Crosby has 14,189, for 33.71%.<\/p>\n
