A Chula Vista police officer was injured when his or her patrol car was struck by a suspected drunken driver who allegedly sped through a red light early Sunday, officials said.<\/p>\n

The on-duty police officer and the driver and passenger in the sedan that hit the officer\u2019s car suffered moderate injuries in the collision, which occurred shortly before 2 a.m. at Olympic Parkway and Santa Venetia Street.<\/p>\n

Police said the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he or she went through the intersection against a red light, striking the police cruiser. The patrol car ended up down an embankment after being struck, said police Lt. Matt Smith.<\/p>\n

All three people were transported to a hospital to be treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening, Smith said.<\/p>\n

The driver of the sedan was arrested. No information about the driver was immediately released.<\/p>\n

The roadway was closed for several hours for an investigation before being reopened to traffic, Smith said.<\/p>\n
