Two people assisting a motorist involved in a crash on northbound Interstate 15 near Bonsall early Thursday were killed when they and the disabled SUV were struck by a car, a California Highway Patrol officer said.<\/p>\n

The collision forced the closure of the northbound lanes of I-15 for several hours. All lanes reopened shortly before 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

The incident began around 4:10 a.m. on I-15 north of state Route 76 when the driver of a Honda CR-V lost control and struck the center median, leaving the car disabled, said CHP Officer Hunter Gerber.<\/p>\n

Two people pulled over and went to render aid to the driver, and a short time later, a driver in a Honda Civic struck the disabled car and the good Samaritans. A third vehicle also subsequently crashed, he said.<\/p>\n

The two pedestrians were killed. Two drivers were transported to a hospital with what were believed to be moderate injuries, he said.<\/p>\n
