An 80-year-old woman walking in a driveway of a La Mesa shopping center was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday afternoon, police said.<\/p>\n

The crash happened around 12:10 p.m. while the vehicle was pulling out of the driveway onto Fletcher Parkway near Baltimore Drive, police said.<\/p>\n

Officers and paramedics arrived and found the unresponsive pedestrian lying in the roadway, investigators said. She was taken to a hospital, where she died. Her name was not released.<\/p>\n

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and spoke with investigators. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.<\/p>\n
