Authorities have publicly identified six people who were fatally injured over the last two weeks in San Diego County traffic crashes.

The most recent, a hit-and-run, claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist in Scripps Ranch, according to police and the county Medical Examiner’s Office. About 2 a.m. Monday, Peter Ratcliffe of San Diego was heading east on Carroll Canyon Road when the 2021 Honda motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle. Following the crash, the other driver fled, officials said. Ratcliffe died at the scene.
A day earlier, two people were mortally injured in separate freeway crashes over a span of a little more than an hour. Shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Zachary Goodall, 25, was in an Infiniti sedan on northbound Interstate 5 south of Clairemont Drive in Bay Park when it crashed into the back of a Honda SUV, according to the medical examiner and CHP. The Infiniti then crashed into a concrete pillar. Paramedics took Goodall to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Just before 10:30 that same evening, a 31-year-old man died in a fiery wreck on Interstate 15 near Mira Mesa, authorities reported. Muhammad Carson Jr. of San Diego was driving a Ford Escape that collided with an Audi RS7 sedan on the southbound side of the freeway, then crashed into a barrier on the west shoulder of the roadway north of Carroll Canyon Road and became engulfed in flames, according to the county agency and the California Highway Patrol. Carson died at the scene.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m. last Wednesday, a 62-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured in his hometown of Spring Valley, according to the county agency. Paramedics took Peter Battle from the crash site at Campo Road and Via Mercado to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he was pronounced dead.
On June 6, a San Marcos man was found mortally injured at the site of a solo car crash on a rural road northeast of Lake Hodges. Paramedics took Giovanni Ayon, 22, from the scene of the crash on Elfin Forest Road near Fortuna Del Norte to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was pronounced dead about 2 p.m. that day. Exactly when the accident occurred is unknown, the county agency reported.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m. June 5, Maria De Los Angeles Garcia, 62, was gravely injured when an eastbound 2020 Volkswagen Passat struck her as she was crossing the street on El Cajon Boulevard in North Park, according to police and the medical examiner. An ambulance crew took the San Diego resident to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, where she died late the next evening.
