Two people were arrested after a U.S. Border Patrol agent opened fire — but did not hit anyone — during an incident near Campo on Thursday, federal officials said.
The shooting involved an agent out of the Campo station responding to a reported human smuggling incident around 5:20 p.m., according to a spokesperson with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Border Patrol’s parent agency.
When agents arrived, the driver of a vehicle allegedly veered toward one of the agents, who then fired his weapon, officials said.
