Police responded shortly after midnight to the Barons Market on West Point Loma Boulevard near Chapman Street after receiving multiple reports of a stabbing. Police were told the two men had argued before the stabbing occurred, said homicide Lt. Lou Maggi.

Officers and medics found an unconscious man in the parking lot and rendered medical aid. The victim was taken to a hospital, but could not be revived, Maggi said.

The name of the 19-year-old victim was not immediately released.

“We are still gathering the details about what (the argument) was about and why it escalated to a stabbing,” Maggi said in an email. “The brothers were both parked in the parking lot, but the store was closed. Neither have any known connection to the store, but the decedent lived nearby.”

Around 4:40 a.m., police went to Linda Vista and arrested Charles Fluker, the victim’s older brother, at his residence on Ulric Street.  Maggi said Fluker was identified as a suspect through a “combination of technology and information obtained at the scene.”

Fluker was being held without bail in San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to online jail records.
