Oceanside firefighters and lifeguards responded about 7 p.m. to Oceanside Harbor’s north jetty, where both people had climbed back onto the jetty but needed help getting rescued due to their injuries and high surf, according to the Oceanside Fire Department.

“The highest surf conditions in years led to the National Weather Service issuing a High Surf Warning with dangerous conditions for Southern California this week, and rescues ensued up and down the California coastline,” fire officials said.

Lifeguards reminded residents that walking on or near the jetty presents significant hazards, particularly when a high surf advisory is in effect.

“Slippery surfaces, uneven footing, and powerful wave action can quickly create dangerous conditions,” the statement said. “For your safety, please stay off the jetties and enjoy the ocean views from safer locations on the beach or in designated public viewing areas.”
