Brush fire burning on Camp Pendleton prompts evacuation warnings in Oceanside

Crews were battling a brush fire burning on the southern edges of Camp Pendleton Wednesday morning near an Oceanside neighborhood, base officials said.

The fire was reported about 10 a.m. in the November Training Area near Wire Mountain Housing and the Marine Memorial Golf Course, officials said.

Evacuation warnings have been issued for parts of a neighborhood bordering the base in northern Oceanside, including homes west of Douglas Drive and west of Vandegrift Boulevard, according to online Genasys mapping. Residents should prepare to evacuate quickly if needed.

A temporary evacuation point has been set up at El Camino High School at 400 Rancho Del Oro in Oceanside.
