The nonprofit based in Encinitas will have the “same people with the same mission, under a new name,” said the Alliance’s president LynnMarie Cooper.

As an independent group, The Alliance is expected to have more of a local focus and more flexibility in carrying out its mission serving the community. All of the proceeds raised through grants, fundraising events and the Impact Coastal Alliance Thrift Shop in Encinitas are slated to go to the nonprofit’s community projects. In the past, more than half of membership dues went to the National Assistance League, and the chapter expects that to increase, which was a major factor in becoming independent.
Members of the Alliance will continue as volunteers supporting existing programs and services, with more programs being planned to address local needs. The nonprofit is starting to put out its new name and logo, with new signs slated to go up at the Impact Coastal Alliance Thrift Shop, (formerly Assistance League San Dieguito Thrift Shop) at 1542 Encinitas Blvd.
