A man was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of murder after police responded to a report of an altercation and found a dead man outside of a home in Oceanside, police said.

Police responded to a radio call about an altercation around 6:00 p.m. on Buffum Drive, east of South El Camino Drive and south of the Emerald Isle Golf Course, police said.
Officers searched the area and found an unconscious man near the home. They attempted life-saving measures, but he could not be revived. The victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

Police arrested 51-year-old Andrew Swan at the hospital after he was transported there. He was being held without bail in county jail.
It was not known if the victim and the suspect knew each other, said Lt. Billy Weese. It also wasn’t clear what led to to the altercation.
