A man died in downtown San Diego from an apparent stab wound Wednesday night, officials said.

An assault with a deadly weapon was reported around 10:20 p.m. on Park Boulevard, near the San Diego Central Library, police said. When they arrived, they found the man, described as in his late 20s, lying on the sidewalk.
Officers performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, officials said. The victim later died. His name was not released.
