San Diego resident Randy Killens is suspected of fatally shooting Leano Edrozo, who was also known as Leano Azzazi, on the afternoon of July 15 at a home on South 58th Street near Duluth Avenue, acting homicide Lt. Victor Rodriguez said in a statement.

Officers had responded to the home following several 911 calls reporting a shooting and found Edrozo suffering from a gunshot wound, Rodriguez said. Medics took him to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police arrested Killens on Thursday, about two weeks after the slaying, Rodriguez said.

An online court docket showed Killens was arraigned Monday in San Diego Superior Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition. The murder charge also included an enhancement for the use of a firearm.

Police have released few details about what led up to the slaying, except to say the two men knew each other and it was an isolated incident. Rodriguez said there did not appear to be a physical altercation between the two men before the shooting. He declined to comment on how detectives identified Killens as the suspect, though public records showed Killens was linked to the home where the shooting occurred.

According to an online obituary, Edrozo had lived in San Diego most of his life and was the father of a young son.
