San Diego police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of breaking into three apartments in the Midway District and sexually assaulting a woman who had her month-old baby with her over the weekend, officials said.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday at homes on Wing Street near Kenyon Street south of Midway Drive, police said.
Following the attack, the victim was able to escape the apartment with her infant and call for help, police said. Officers arrived and found the suspect still inside the victim’s apartment and made the arrest, police said. The child was uninjured.

Diego Yanez was arrested on several charges, including suspicion of rape by force or fear, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, two counts of first-degree burglary, false imprisonment with violence, criminal threats and willful cruelty to a child. He is being held on $1 million bail.
The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated. No other details were immediately released.
