A 33-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her partner over the weekend in City Heights pleaded not guilty to a murder charge Tuesday.

Officers responded around 11:30 a.m. to reports of a loud dispute and a stabbing at a residence on 39th Street near University Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police said they found Daniel Estevan Cornejo, 33, suffering from severe bleeding. Despite life-saving efforts by responding officers, Cornejo was pronounced dead at the scene

Investigators identified his domestic partner, Sandra Venta, as the suspect. Venta remained at the scene and reported minor injuries. She was evaluated at a hospital before being booked into the Las Colinas Detention Facility on a single count of murder.
Venta remained in custody without bail following a Tuesday afternoon arraignment in San Diego Superior Court. She faces up to 25 years to life in state prison if convicted.

The couple shared a 6-year-old child who was at school during the incident.
