All northbound lanes of Interstate 5 and five of the lanes of northbound Interstate 805 are scheduled to be closed in Sorrento Valley on Monday night as crews paint stripes on newly paved lanes, according to Caltrans.

The lanes will be shut down from Genesee Avenue to Carmel Mountain Road beginning at 9 p.m. Monday. The lanes are scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Caltrans said.
Two inside lanes of northbound I-805 will remain open. The I-5 local bypass lane will also remain open to northbound traffic.

The closures are part of a $113.7 million freeway project aimed at improving ride quality, reducing maintenance and extending the service life of existing pavement in San Diego, Chula Vista and National City, Caltrans said.
The I-5 Asset Management project extends from Camino de la Plaza in San Ysidro north to just past Del Mar, less than a half-mile from the Via de la Valle undercrossing, Caltrans said.
