A man who stabbed his 79-year-old mother to death in Lakeside was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years to life in state prison.

Arleigh Clifford Anderson, 55, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the Jan. 24, 2022, slaying of Judith Terrebonne Anderson.
Sheriff’s deputies responded that afternoon to the Andersons’ Riverview Avenue home and found the victim unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead at the scene, and her son was detained.

Arleigh Anderson had called 911 and told a dispatcher that “he took too much of his medication, doesn’t remember what happened, but thinks he hurt his mom pretty bad,” sheriff’s Lt. Mike Krugh said at the time of the killing.
In a statement, Deputy District Attorney Miriam Shoval, who prosecuted the case, called the killing “tragic” and added, “In addition to being a loving mother, Judith Anderson was also a grandmother, very active in her grandchildren’s lives.”
