Authorities have identified three people who lost their lives over the last two weeks to county traffic accidents.

Shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, Daniel Canniff, 28, of La Mesa was riding a motorcycle to the east on El Cajon Boulevard in the El Cerrito area when the driver of an oncoming 2019 Toyota sedan turned left directly into his path at 56th Street, according to police and the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
The bike impacted the front passenger side of the car, leaving Canniff gravely injured. Paramedics took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Two days earlier, a car fatally struck a woman as she was walking in a commercial area near Lake Murray, the county agency reported. Saba Berhane, 80, was crossing a driveway in front of a Costco on Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa when the vehicle hit her shortly after noon Wednesday, according to police and the county agency.

Paramedics took Berhane to Sharp Memorial Hospital in Serra Mesa, where she was pronounced dead.
On May 5, a predawn crash on a rain-slick stretch of Interstate 8 near Fletcher Hills fatally injured a motorist. Larry Reed, 55, lost control of his 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis while trying to exit the freeway at West Main Street in his hometown of El Cajon shortly before 5:30 a.m., sending the sedan crashing into a guardrail, according to the medical examiner and the California Highway Patrol.
The car overturned and rolled several times, ejecting Reed, the CHP reported. He died at the scene.
