28-year-old man killed in Southcrest shooting identified

A 28-year-old man who died after being shot in his Southcrest home last week has been identified, San Diego police said.

Jorge Herrera died shortly after officers received a report of gunshots being heard at a home on Gamma Street near 39th Street around 11 p.m. Wednesday, police Lt. Lou Maggi said in a release.

Officers arrived and found Herrera injured. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an argument with one or more acquaintances inside the home, Maggi said.

No other information was immediately available.
