A 32-year-old man was killed and a Porsche driver was arrested after nine vehicles collided at a Pacific Beach intersection Wednesday evening.

The crash happened about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Garnet Avenue and Mission Bay Drive, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.
According to Buttle, the 32-year-old man was driving a Kia and headed west on Garnet when he stopped at a red light. While the Kia was stopped, a Porsche Cayman struck it from behind.

The impact prompted a chain-reaction crash, the officer said.
The Kia driver was taken to a hospital, where he died. Three people who’d been in other vehicles were taken to hospitals to be treated for minor injuries, Buttle said.
The 59-year-old man who’d been driving the Porsche was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter. His name was not immediately available. Buttle said alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
