A driver suspected of running a red light in Rancho Bernardo Friday night was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he struck a man riding an electric scooter, San Diego police said.

The victim, 41, suffered injuries that were “imminently” life-threatening, police said.

The crash happened about 9:50 p.m. The scooter rider was in the crosswalk of Camino Del Norte at Paseo Montanoso when the driver of a 2005 Honda Pilot ran the red light, hitting him, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital.
