A 66-year-old man is accused of using a chainsaw to attack and severely injure another person during a dispute over a parking space in a Fallbrook neighborhood last month, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies received a report around 7:20 p.m. Aug. 23 of an assault on Rice Canyon Road near Clearwater Road, a home with multiple occupants and dwellings, said sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Scroggins.
When deputies arrived, they learned there was an argument over parking that turned into a fight, during which the victim was cut by the chainsaw on their fingers, left elbow and right forearm, which could cause permanent disfigurement, Scroggins said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, Scroggins said.
The sergeant said the alleged assailant and victim were acquaintances who had known each other for some time. Further details of the attack remained under investigation.
On Monday, the alleged assailant turned himself in at the Fallbrook sheriff’s station, Scroggins said. He was booked into jail on suspicion of multiple allegations, including assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and mayhem.
