The victim was identified as Gregory Roundy, who was found by deputies suffering from traumatic injuries. According to an obituary posted on Legacy.com, Roundy was 74 years old.

Deputies had responded to a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon on Sept. 14 shortly after 2 p.m. at the house on Grand Fork Drive near Jeremy Street, less than a mile east of Santana High School.

Paramedics treated the mortally wounded victim, but he died a short time later.

Deputies arrested Derek Spratley, who was also at the residence and who was suffering from visible injuries, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Juan Marquez said. Spratley was transported to a hospital and medically cleared the same day, Marquez said.

No other details about the case were released.

“The circumstances and motive behind this incident remain under investigation,” Marquez said in a news release. “Based on the information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.”
