A wildfire erupted near Lake Henshaw in rural northern San Diego County early Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The Grade fire, reported near East Grade Road, was burning in the Cleveland National Forest. It reached 50 acres by mid-afternoon, burning in medium brush fuels and was headed to the northeast, U.S. Forest Service spokesperson Daniel Lanari said.
No evacuations have been ordered, and no structures were threatened, but a section of East Grade Road was closed as crews tried to access the fire.
The area where the fire is burning is “a little rocky, a little steep, a little difficult to access,” Lanari said.

As of midafternoon, the fire air attack included four air tankers, two helicopters and plane assigned to coordinate the aircrafts, he said.
The fire comes as the region swelters under a heat dome and warnings of extreme heat — and heat can help fire move faster. “With the increased temperatures comes the higher risk of fire movement,” Lanari said.

Cal Fire is assisting in the response.
