Authorities are investigating human remains that a sheriff’s volunteer search and rescue team found on Palomar Mountain Wednesday afternoon.

The remains were found about 4:30 p.m. on an embankment near South Grade Road, near Frazier Point, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators did not release further information about the search or the condition of the remains, but said that the remains are not believed to be connected to the case of a missing Oceanside woman.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
