Just before 10 a.m., someone called 911 after finding a man unconscious in the area of the river bottom in the vicinity of Main Street and Beyer Boulevard, Chula Vista police Acting Lt. Anthony Molina said.

The man, who appeared to be in his 60s and unhoused, was pronounced dead at the scene, Molina said. He said the Medical Examiner’s Office also responded and “at this time the circumstances surrounding the man’s death do not appear to be suspicious.”

He said the death is not related to a death that San Diego police are investigating in the same area.

About 11:40 a.m., San Diego police learned that a body was in the water in the area of Beyer Boulevard, Officer Jose Perales said. Lifeguards helped pull the body from the water.
