San Diego police arrested a man on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 44-year-old victim Saturday night in an encampment in the Morena neighborhood, authorities said.

Police responded to several 911 calls shortly before 7:30 pm. and found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds in an encampment in a riverbed near Friars Road and Interstate 5.
Paramedics transported him to a hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
Officers were told the man had been in an altercation with someone he knew in the encampment prior to being stabbed. Detectives identified a suspect and searched the area, making an arrest around 1 a.m. Sunday a short distance away, near Pacific Highway.

Police said they arrested Michael Clark, 29, on suspicion of robbery and murder.
The name of the man who died has not been released, pending notification of his family.
