A 26-year-old motorcycle rider died after he crashed on a Campo highway and was then struck by a pickup on Sunday, a California Highway Patrol official said.

The incident occurred when the rider, a Chula Vista resident, crashed while negotiating a curve on eastbound state Route 94 near Buckman Springs Road and slid into westbound traffic lanes around 9:30 a.m., said CHP Officer Jamine Lopez.
A westbound Ford F150, driven by a 27-year-old man from Montebello, then struck the rider and the motorcycle with its front end, Lopez said.

The rider died from injuries suffered in the crash. His name has not been released.

Lopez said drugs or alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash.
