A nearly yearlong investigation into a ring that was selling drugs on Instagram has culminated in several arrests, San Diego police said this week.

During the 11-month investigation, police said detectives issued 15 search warrants and located multiple residences and vehicles throughout City Heights, downtown San Diego and Pacific Beach that were used to manufacture, store and distribute drugs and guns. The operation used several Instagram accounts to sell drugs to college students in particular, police said.
Police arrested seven suspects in June, according to officials.
Detectives collected over 2 pounds of cocaine, eight gallon-sized bags of marijuana, five gallon-sized bags of psilocybin mushrooms, digital scales, more than $40,000 and hundreds of Xanax pills and Percocet pills, police said.

They also seized 16 firearms, including rifles with illegal alterations, in addition to ammunition, kits used to build firearms, five ballistic vests, one ballistic helmet and an assortment of weapons capable of rapid-fire shooting without reloading, police said.
