From dogs and cats to rabbits and lizards, pets who win the most votes have the chance to be featured in the 2027 San Diego Humane Society calendar.

The San Diego Humane Society launched its 34th annual photo fundraiser, encouraging the public to submit photos of their pets through Aug. 31. Each entry is $25. Any pet with at least five votes will be included in the 2027 calendar in some way, according to the San Diego Humane Society.
The top vote in each pet category will win a full-month 2028 calendar feature, a two-night stay at the pet-friendly Loews Coronado Bay Resort and tickets to the San Diego Humane Society’s “Fur Ball” gala.
Each vote costs $1, which directly funds San Diego Humane Society’s services, including emergency medical care, animal rescue and Project Wildlife’s rehabilitation efforts, according to their website.

As of Monday, nearly $46,000 has been raised. Last year, $119,718 was raised, officials said.
“Our community’s passion for their pets is unmatched, and this fundraiser is the perfect way to celebrate that bond,” said Brian Daugherty, executive vice president at San Diego Humane Society, in a statement. “Whether your pet is a recent rescue or a long-time family member, entering them in the contest ensures that other animals across our region get the second chance they deserve.”
Money raised supports the organization’s care for more than 40,000 animals annually across its campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego.
