Escondido Public Library’s temporary location at North County Mall closes June 27

The Escondido Public Library completed the renovation project it began in April last year and is moving books back from its temporary mall storefronts. The final day of service to the public at its temporary North County Mall location is June 27.

While thousands of books are being moved back to the renovated main library building at 239 S Kalmia St., the Pioneer Room next door at 247 S. Kalmia St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday starting June 29 and continuing until July 31.

The city will host public tours and a community ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 1, showing the refurbished building.

The over $10 million renovation project was done to update the 45,000-square-foot library built in 1980. Work ranged from repairing the roof and updating the heating and ventilation systems to remodeling the community workspaces and adding new study pods.

The main building is scheduled to reopen to the public Aug. 3.
