Motorcyclist dies in crash after running red light in Otay Mesa

A 43-year-old motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a pickup in Otay Mesa on Saturday evening, San Diego police said.

The crash occurred about 5:05 p.m. at the intersection of Palm and Norstad avenues.

The rider was heading southbound on Norstad when he entered the intersection against a red light and was broadsided by a 2010 Toyota Tacoma that was going westbound on Palm, police said.

The man was ejected from his bike and died before he could be taken to a hospital.

Police said alcohol or drug impairment was not a factor in the crash.
