Abraham Zuniga, 23, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of killing Ramone Joseph, 36, who was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso Feb. 6, 2021, on Marquette Road near Martinique Drive, police Lt. David Oyos said.
Officers responded to the scene after receiving a report of shots fired in the same area around 12:25 a.m., Oyos said. They began performing lifesaving measures until paramedics could take Joseph to the hospital, where he died.
About 20 minutes later, officers located a vehicle allegedly driven by the gunman, and a pursuit began, Oyos said. The pursuit lasted around five minutes before the suspect successfully evaded officers.

Investigators said they later learned that on the night of the shooting, suspects were casing vehicles and burglarizing homes in Joseph’s neighborhood. The victim then attempted to stop them.
“During the confrontation, Joseph was shot and killed,” Oyos said. “The suspects all fled the area and were not identified until further investigation was conducted.”
Zuniga was 18 years old at the time of the shooting.
He was ultimately arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
