Large waves from Hurricane Marie will combine with high tides this weekend to produce minor coastal flooding in parts of northern San Diego County, according to the National Weather Service.

The surf will begin to increase on Friday and will reach its peak on Sunday and Monday, when some waves will reach the 6-to-10-foot range during evening high tides.
Forecasters are especially concerned about Carlsbad, where enormous erosion has occurred this year at Tamarack State Beach. The area will experience a 5-foot-8-inch high tide at 6:07 p.m. on Sunday and a 6-foot-2-inch high tide at 7 p.m. Monday, says Surfline.

The surf will be smaller but still significant in South County, generally peaking in the 3-to-5-foot range.
Marie is currently traveling west-northwest off lower Baja California. It is expected to curve west, out to sea, on Sunday. The hurricane will throw off lots of moisture, possibly producing scattered showers in parts of San Diego County on Sunday.
